Some old, some new, but traditions are my favorite part of any holiday!! I have always had a love for the 4th of July. And even more so in this time, with the government we have, our freedom is so important and we need to exercise those rights we have.
We usually start the day off by going to the Summerlin Parade. Even though it's on our bucket list, we decided to forgo it this year. It was fun when our kids were younger, and a tradition we started, but I have learned as my kids get older some traditions will change. And I'm okay with that.
We slept in! We took our time getting ready to go to the Tippetts for a BBQ lunch and swim.
It was a super relaxing morning and an easy going day!
All of the kids and the adults swam and had fun!
After playing for a couple of hours we headed back to our house to get cleaned up and ready for a surprise!
Watching the 51's and fireworks!
Come to find out we had purchased tickets for the 5th instead of the 4th. Since it was a holiday they wouldn't let us trade our tickets. So we opted to purchase some cheaper tickets to still enjoy the night. They did however let us trade our tickets for the 5th to another date later on in the summer. So we will get to go again.
I love these 5!!
Celebrating our freedom, as a family, enjoying good 'ol American baseball!
Sunkissed cheeks, and loving this beautiful girl!
I love how many times they took to celebrate and honor our freedom throughout the night. From the color guard and the national anthem, to having another person sing American the Beautiful. They had any person who has served to stand and we all cheered for them. They had 2 different men who had served throw the first pitches. We stood for a moment of silence. It was awesome!!
I am so very grateful for this man!!
Before going into the stadium they gave stickers that said 'I support our troops' and flags. The kids had fun with the flags!
Cosmo!!
Oh this boy, he melts my heart!!
The firework show did NOT disappoint! It was fantastic!!!
This is something Jeff and I agreed that we will be making a tradition. Yesterday could not have been more perfect! We had so much fun. And even with the hiccups, it still made it a great day to live in this wonderful country!!!
I want to remember:
We grabbed dinner on our way to the baseball game. As we were exciting the freeway there was a man begging for money. Jeff and I both felt impressed to help him. We had some extra food from dinner and a few bucks, so we offered it to him. Kahle asked why. So we talked about it. With tears in his eyes he said 'mom when we were talking about that, I felt really happy inside.'
