Our Easter celebration started the night before, when the kids and I made resurrection rolls. I LOVE talking with the kids and hearing what they know.
- You start with the marshmallow - represent Jesus' physical body.
- Dip the marshmallow in melted butter - represents the oils they anointed His body with.
- Roll the marshmallow in cinnamon/sugar mix - represents the spices they rubbed his body with before wrapping it in burial clothes.
- Wrap the marshmallow in a crescent roll - represents the burial clothes and the tomb.
So each one took turns rolling and wrapping and rolling again.
Bake and then let them rolls cool for about 5 minutes. Once cooled, open the 'tomb' and see what's inside. Then discuss the resurrection and what happened to Jesus after.
Our tombs were empty, just like the one Jesus was laid in.
The conversation we had, the questions, the things each one of them shared was amazing. I love having these learning experiences with our kids.
This morning the kids were up early and excited. It is something I love about parenthood, no matter how tired you are, their excitement is contagious and it is all magical and fun!
Tearing down the streamers!
The hunt is on!!
The kids decided to leave the top streamer, so they could do the limbo :)
I love them!!!
The kids headed downstairs and searched for their baskets!
Kahle's was hiding on the side of the tv!
Grant's was in the lego bin!
Coleman found his in a box :)
Delaney's was on the coat rack!
Haden's was in a bucket.
Checking out their baskets.
Daddy reading Delaney a book :)
After looking at their baskets, eating some candy and having fun. They were so excited to hunt for the candy hidden around the house!
After counting 1, 2, Easter Bunny...Kahle started running and grabbing candy, then I told the older 4 to go :)
The kids LOVED having their Dad home and made sure to play and have as much fun as they could!
And of course if the Easter Bunny brings swimsuits, one must put the suit on as soon as possible!

We laughed at this picture, it looks like Grant is wearing Delaney's swimsuit :)
After playing we had a yummy french toast breakfast complete with sausage and bacon. Then we started getting ready for church.
I totally didn't get pictures before we left for church, so we took them once we got home :)
This little boy is not so little anymore.
Kahle Thomas you bring so much light into my heart and our lives. There is never a dull moment with you around. Love you squishy!
And a photo shoot wouldn't be complete without silly faces, as far as Kahle is concerned. So of course they all had to do one :)
Who told this girl she could grow up?!!
I love her freckles, her missing tooth and her beautiful face! Even though she likes to correct me and ask me a million questions, she is so much fun and has such an amazing imagination!
The silly faces just keep getting better :)
This boy ...he's getting taller and older and I told him he couldn't!
Grant I love watching you grow, learn and find out more about yourself! You love to be a leader and I look forward to seeing what you will do with your life!
Now that's a silly face!
Oh my sweet, tender hearted man!
Coleman you are a ray of sunshine! I am so grateful for your go with the flow attitude! I adore your smile and love how close you are to the spirit. You are one of a kind!
And I think he won the silly faces!! WOW!
This boy is becoming a young man and I can't handle it!
Haden what can I say...you are such an example to those around you. You love life, you give the important things in your life 110%. You have a huge heart and it shows!
I think he thinks he's getting to old for silly faces :)
And they were changing out of their church clothes before I could get a group shot, so we did one without them in their Sunday best :)
After church, we relaxed, played and decorated our Easter eggs!
My Mother-In-Law, Trudy, showed us this awesome idea for coloring Easter eggs. So we gave it a try!
Shaving cream and food coloring, roll the egg in it and set it aside to let the color set on the egg.
I've heard you can use whip cream, we may try that next year!
We did learn that you need to either use gloves (which we didn't have) or wash your hands immediately after rolling your egg. Otherwise the food coloring sets and you will have colorful fingers :)
But it was fun, quick and an easy clean up!
Each kid got to roll 3 eggs.
They each tried out each color combo!
They are done and we let them set for a little while (not sure on how long).
Then I rinsed them off and enjoyed how each one came out so differently!!
I will make sure each one has plenty of color in the shaving cream next time, but we LOVED how they came out!!
Today was filled with the spirit. Church was perfect! I love looking down the row, across our 5 kids and catching Jeff's eye. We smile and I know he knows what I'm thinking and how I'm feeling...truly blessed, totally in love with our family and our life. My heart is full!
I know that my Redeemer lives! I know that because of Christ and through Christ I can have second chances, new beginnings and and start over if I need to. Our Savior lived, died and lived again and through him, I can do that as well. I am so grateful for Him and his sacrifices for me and my sins and short comings. I am so grateful for my testimony, my faith and all that I have through Christ.
Happy Easter!!
