Finally celebrating with some cake!

When your hubby works crazy hours and Haden goes out of town, it makes it hard to do cake and ice cream with family!

So 2 weeks after their birthdays, we are finally celebrating some more :)
 photo DSC_3431_zps41fee855.jpg
When I asked Kahle what he wanted his cake to look like he quickly replied 'grilled cheese'. When I asked him why he said 'because it's my very most favorite thing ever!'
So with that, Kahle had a grilled cheese, fries and ketchup cake :)

He also was very specific that he wanted strawberry ice cream, so that is what he got!

Grant first started out with wanting a Mario cake. Then I showed him a creeper from Minecraft and he wanted that. Today after the cake was more than half way done he said he likes it but did really want a Mario cake. I told him it was too late and he was just going to have to be happy with what he had, then he said he loved his cake and he did want a creeper....who knows :)

I can't believe that he is 10!!

We also got to celebrate with Lacy, since her birthday was yesterday! Kahle loved that :)

Being sung to :)
 photo DSC_3444_zps205ace9c.jpg
Making a wish and blowing out his candles, he didn't waste any time! As soon as the song was done he had them all out!
 photo DSC_3446_zps97af97b9.jpg
Haden blew out his candles the first time, so we re-lite them and sung super fast to him.
 photo DSC_3449_zps43291b8d.jpg
Hope he made a good wish :)

Thanks for letting my boys share the spotlight with Lacy, Adri and Trent!
Thanks for the grandparents and Adri and Trent's family for coming out to celebrate tonight!!

Ear update for Haden....

 photo DSC_2475_zps1744298b.jpg
 photo photo3_zps56210c58.jpg
Today was Haden's 6 month follow-up for his ear reconstruction.
The outside has healed up and the ear drum looks great!

We were a bit concerned because Haden has mentioned it is hard to hear, and Jeff and I could tell that his hearing had gotten bad again.
 photo photo36_zps0229e68a.jpg
After removing some ear wax, and checking over his ear, Dr. Sikand had Haden do the hearing test.
 photo photo24_zpseae63587.jpg
I can tell you he made this poor lady sweat! She was seriously concerned because he was NOT hearing much out of his right ear. She tried every way she could to get him to hear the beeps. It just wasn't happening. Then she had him repeat words back to her....yeah he only got 16 out of 25 words right and that was with her repeating a few words 2 and 3 times.

So we meet with Dr. Sikand again, I ask if it could possibly be from the cyst they found on one of his ear bones that had eroded the bone. He told me that it is rare, but could be. We talked about a CT scan, but before we went that route, Dr. Sikand decided to check the report from Haden's surgery. After reading it, and realizing the cyst was on the larger end and the erosion was bad, that it was probably exactly what was causing his hearing loss. So we talked surgery and when to do it.

We decided to wait until after summer, when the swimming season is ending, and do the surgery then. Sept. 3rd is the day. This time they will be replacing the bone that eroded and taking a plastic sheeting out that was put behind his ear drum for protection. This surgery is suppose to be almost as simple as tubes and all done through the ear canal. But...... there is a chance that the cyst that was removed before, will have grown back. If that is the case, then they will have to open up his ear again. This is something that Dr. Sikand won't know until he goes in through the ear canal. And if the cyst has grown back, they will open up the ear right there and do the surgery.

Haden's not excited about another surgery and really not excited about the thought of possibly having his ear opened up again. But I told him we won't worry or even try to think about it until at least closer to the surgery date. For now his job is to enjoy his summer!

Today we got to go to Anderson Dairy to do their tour today.
Some of my kids have done the tour before, but didn't mind the free ice cream :) Plus they were excited because they had their cousins join us today!

Plant World!!

Today we had the chance to go on a tour at Plant World, with other Homeschool families!

It was a bit warm outside, but with lots of water and staying in the shade as much as possible, the kids did not complain and had lots of fun! They already want to go back and take Jeff and Haden :)

There are birds everywhere, and each one has a name and a story!

Sully was our cute tour guide!

This was such a fun tour!!
We were so glad we got to go. It is someplace we will definitely go again :)

The BIG 1-0!

I can hardly believe that Grant is 10 years old!!
10 years ago this amazingly easy baby came into our lives! He has since proven he likes to be a leader and be in charge. He is sweet, kind, a great friend, always ready to play, loves to make people laugh, and an awesome kid!

Jeff and I had been awake early that morning to get Haden and my parents off to the airport. It was fun to be up before the kids and see them after they have just woken up :)

Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast! Jeff surprised him with these and he was so excited!

They spent as much time as they could playing! It's been a hit!

Adri had asked if we wanted to go swimming before and I knew that Grant would love it, so we planned it.

It helped keep his mind of missing his brother and he had a blast!

After picking the boys up we surprised them with a stop at Thrifty's Ice Cream!!
They were way excited!!!

Cake and ice cream will be done when Haden and my parents get back from Michigan.

Grant oh how I love you! I hope your birthday was filled with fun and you can know how much we love you and how truly awesome you are!!!

Happy 10th Birthday Grant!!!
