Sloan Rock Quarry...A Rockin' Good Time!

 photo DSC_0243a_zps1c40c8f4.jpg
Today Grant's class (and all of 3rd grade) were invited by Sloan Rock Quarry to go on a field trip there.  I'll have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect.  But it was a lot of fun!  The kids had a blast and it is one field trip that I wouldn't mind going on again :)

I also realized that it is the place a good friend of our, Paul Smith, worked before he and his amazing family moved to Texas.

The great people who helped our little miners get suited up and ready to go!
We went through a slide show, they told us all about the limestone that they mine and what they do with it.  We also talked about safety when on top of the Quarry.  Then we loaded back up in the bus and drove to the top, where we could see what they were doing and be up close with the machinery!

Those tires are HUGE!  And cost a lot of money (along with the chains that go around them protecting them from being punctured by the rocks)!

They kept the kids' attentions (which is a big deal) and everyone had questions and just really seemed like they liked it!

They would drop these large rocks and it would break the other rocks...the ground shook and they kids were fascinated by it...I think the adults were too!

More adventures with the ENT...Grant's turn...

 photo photo21a-3_zps24dc4c25.jpg
In the past year we have noticed that Grant has had some breathing issues.  He breathes so loud, that not only we have noticed it, I have had other people comment on it.  In fact in church a couple weeks ago, a girl in our Primary class thought Grant was falling asleep because his breathing was so loud.  The pediatrician referred him to the ENT saying his adenoids were large.  I decided to schedule an appt. with the last ENT we saw with Haden, because of his experience.

The appt. was today, Jeff had to work, my parents took my other kids so I could just take Grant.  We got there and Grant was a bit nervous.  I told him I wasn't sure what they would do, but if I knew something was going to happen I would let him know as soon as I could.  The ENT looked in his nose, but was not able to see his adenoids.  Turns out his has polyps in his sinuses, he told me he'd have to use a scope to look closer.  He sprayed a numbing spray in his nose.  Then the ENT said he's be right back, and a few seconds later the nurse came in with a scope.  She had me sign a consent form.  Once she left I turned to Grant and said 'they are going to put the in your nose.  I am pretty sure it won't hurt, but just so you know that is what they are going to do.'  He looked at me, I told him to take a deep breath and keep calm.  In walked the nurse and Dr. and the put the scope down his nose....Grant did awesome!  He said it hurt a little, but wasn't bad.  He does have enlarged adenoids, he also has an infection in his sinuses.

So what this means is we are going to take some steps to try and reduce the polyps, to figure out if there is more going on and decide what is next.  Grant is to have a CT scan to see what is going on in his sinuses, an allergy blood panel, start on a nasal spray and an antibiotic.  Then we will see the ENT in 4 weeks to see what steps we take next.

Oh the joys of the ENT...glad we have a Dr. who is good with the boys, talks to them like they are human and gives me peace that we are on the right track!

Cole's Birthday Sleepover!

The kids look forward to their birthday for MANY reasons...one of those reasons is they get to have a sleep over at Papa and Grammy's! It is something that they all look forward to and can't wait to do for their birthday!

On Friday, the kids had field day (more on that later).  After school Cole told his teacher that his fun wasn't going to stop there.  He got to have a sleep over and his Papa and Grammy's.
He was just a little bit excited :)

The following are pictures my parents took and the captions my Dad sent with each picture...

Let the choices begin....
He was given the choice of spending money on one toy, or going to the dollar store and getting 5 toys...he picked the dollar store!

Picked 12, need to reduce to 5, clear the isle.

Chocolate "stach" after breakfast...mickey mouse pancakes and bacon.

Thank you Papa and Grammy!  Cole had a BLAST!  I asked him how much fun he had, his response 'well a lot, because I kind of forgot about you guys (meaning his family)'...so glad he had fun :)

The end of the season....

Who knew that back in March, when Haden started baseball, that I would fall in love with this sport?!  I wasn't sure how I felt about it when he first started, but it was what he wanted to do, so I was excited for him.  Here we are, the end of May, and I love it, and Haden loves it!
 photo IMG_6350a_zpsbaa65338.jpg
From his first day at tryouts, he has grown a TON!
 photo IMG_6347a_zpsc40aa0ab.jpg
Scared, nervous but so excited we started this journey....
 photo IMG_6412a_zps875f50db.jpg
After his first practice he was sold, and there is no going back!

We are in this for the long haul, and we are ready for it!
   photo DSC_0593a_zps6e2e12d7.jpg
He was blessed with a coach, who may seem rough on the outside, but he really cares and wants what is best for his boys.  He has challenged and pushed Haden because he told me he sees something in him.  I am forever grateful to him and the confidence he has given Haden throughout this season!

We learned about batting cages :)
Something Haden can't wait to go do with his Dad!
 photo IMG_6872a_zps320aa31e.jpg
I learned how to keep the books and the pitch count...I was informed by another Mom that I sold my soul the day I volunteered to learn...Meaning I will never get away from doing the books ;)

We played against friends, but still had fun doing it!

We watched as he hit is first base hit...how sweet that was!!
 photo DSC_0008a_zps9da2886c.jpg
Tonight we watched his last game of the season...it's bittersweet as it comes to an end!
Although it is not the end for Haden and baseball, it is with his team.  It has been so fun to watch these boys grow, learn and improve throughout the season!
 photo DSC_0005a_zps057bf950.jpg
These 4 faces have been a great support to their brother!
Although I think they like the park behind the ball fields a little more ;)
 photo DSC_0010a_zps9cd2de24.jpg
Haden you knew you wanted to play this sport for a little while, you have the desire, the want, the confidence to learn, grow and improve!  I look forward to continuing to watch you play!  It really is a LOT of fun!!  You truly can do anything you set your mind to!
