On September 18th, we took a step in the right direction of our lives. Jeff worked his last day for Las Vegas Parking. It has been 3 years of growing, learning and making some friendships that will last through time. We weren't sure where our path would take us. We had been given 3 opportunities to consider. We are following our hearts and our prayers and checked out these newly opened doors. Here's to new adventures, new direction and new things! We are ready for it!
There were ups and downs while Jeff was not working. We LOVED having him home. We LOVED him being there and not working TONS of hours each week. We knew whatever option we picked, we wanted it to be one where he was able to spend more time at home. The money he made was nice, but it wasn't worth the time he was away from us, the way he was treated or talked about, and the stuff he had to put up with day in and day out. We were grateful for the growth that Jeff made, that we made as a couple and a family during this time, but it was definitely time to move on. Change can be good.
So before we decided to walk away from his job, we had some interesting things happen. Jeff had once worked for the Elevator Union. Regardless of the many phone calls he has made over the years to stay in touch, they had told him he would have to reapply like a new hire, because it had been so long. So he had done that, he had taken the test and placed here in Las Vegas, but still nothing was coming from it. So we decided to start applying in different states. Jeff was applying in any and all states that were hiring, and it was all over the country. But we were willing to move wherever just to get him home more! Well the day after Jeff put in his 2 week notice, he received a phone call from the regional director of the Elevator Union in our area. Jeff's information came across his desk, he doesn't know exactly how, but looking at Jeff's information there is no reason for Jeff to be applying like a new hire. He has worked enough hours and it hadn't been too long (even though it had been a long time). There were steps that needed to be taken, but he had contacted the person here in Las Vegas, that will make sure that Jeff gets back in, basically is what he said. He needed to go before a board, plead his case, explain what happened, that was the first step. We eventually received an email from one of the places he had applied to and they said they passed his information onto this guy, because he had already been employed. So grateful for this man who saw the information for Jeff and took the initiative to pass his info along!! Turns out they were having the meeting Jeff needed to attend to plead his case that Friday and it was here in Las Vegas (there was a possibility he would have to travel to California, but luckily he didn't). So Jeff went to the meeting, explained his case/situation and then we waited. It felt like forever and we tried to be as patient as we could. But soon we got the call, Jeff was given the okay to be sworn into the elevator union! He had to get a hold of 2 mechanics that he had worked with in the past. That was tricky, but with some help from a friend of Jeff's, who has since retired from the elevator union, Jeff was able to get 2 guys to come vouch for him (Thank you Hal!!!). He went before another board, to once again explain his situation. This is where the 2 guys came and vouched that he was a hard worker and would be a great addition to the union. The guys were super nice and everything went well. Jeff was once again told he would be informed if they approved of him being sworn in. So we waited again, and prayed. He got a text the night before the next Union meeting telling him what time to be there! He was for sure going to be sworn in! We were So excited!!!

Jeff and I took a huge leap of faith and he walked away from his previous job. Not fully sure if or how things would work out, we pressed forward. Things fell into place and better than we had planned. He has been officially sworn into the Elevator Union! While at the union meeting, Jeff found out that he was starting work the next day!! I mean, talk about an answer to prayers. Life is good and we know that our Heavenly Father is aware of us and our situation and has blessed Jeff for his patience, and being the honest and hard working employee he has always been! A month ago, Jeff officially started with the elevator union. He is loving it!!
We are So grateful for this change in our lives. It has been amazing and we have so enjoyed having Jeff home more, and weekends off! We love this!
